In recent news, an Ohio animal keeper took his own life. He released over 50 wild animals into the city before taking his own life. Lions, tigers, apes, bears and other dangerous animals ran all over the city causing panic to everyone who lived there. The animals were eventually killed and berried. Do you think that the city and the police handled this situation correctly? Should the animals have been killed for the saftey of the people or should they have tried to capture them and place them in the local zoo? What would you have wanted if you lived there?

If I was an animal I would want to be kept in a zoo. You get free food! You can't find that in the mall. In the zoo all you have to do is look good, and you will be fed.
I believe that it would have been best for them to capture the animals and put them in a zoo where the animals could be safe, beacuse those animals would want to be put into a zoo and not be killed just the way they did those harmless animals.
I would have wanted them to put those harmless animals in a zoo.
Students, what if someone got hurt. What is a small child was killed because the animals were not captured fast enough. Do you think that the safety of a human should come before the safety of an animal?
Anthony, I am glad that you can see the animal's perspective. However, have you considered what it would feel like to be locked up all day? It would be the same as a prisoner. Would you like to be a prisoner or to be free? Do you think animals want and deserve the same freedom?
Yes I do think that the safety of a human comes first, but when you vist the zoo and you see all those animals with there other friends in there habitats they look very happy so how or why would it feel like being locked up in prison?
The safety of a human comes first.But we need both the little kid and the animal.we need animals for food,and we need kids to keep the human race going on.
So Juwan you are saying that it is okay to kill animals as long as it is for food?? What is the difference in the police killing the animals to save the people and others allowing animals to be killed for food?
In my opinion I would not have killed the animals unless they were messing with people if not I would knock them out and put them in a zoo.
I understand that you will be locked up all day but its better than being killed to me.
Juwan you are saying that we should kill the animals, but I am saying that some of the animals can be helpful. The animals that caused harm can be trained to help people and could be handy. It also can be the resident decision for what to do the animal. They could kill it or have a trainer to train the animal and have it work for the resident for a couple of months.
EX: What if there is a blind man and there were no more k-9s to help them what would they do then. Have you ever thought of a a trained monkey to help them and guide them places!!
I see what you are saying Anthony, but what if the animals try to hurt someone. Yes it would be better if they were in a zoo but what if they can not get them in the zoo in enough time?
I think that they shouldnt have killed the animals because wild life rangers are always complaining about protecting animals. the time they take to shoot and kill an animal the could be tranquilizng the animals instead of killing them:)
If they hurt someone then it will be the trainers problem because the were the trainers and if they didn't train them then its there fault that they were killed or hurt. He will be the blame for it.

In the zoo you can`t run around, but I would have chose the zoo before getting killed! I think the people who killed the animals should have thought harder before killing the animals.
What "new one"? He let all of the animals out then he killed himself. So therefore there was no other trainer to tame them so they either 1.Had to die. or 2.Get put in a zoo, and the police thought they were a theret to they citizens so they just killed them
Let me ask you all this...Why is it not okay to kill animals for safety, but okay to kill them for food???

It is not okay to kill these animals because some of these animals are probably going extint.But,it is okay to kill the right kind of animals because we need to eat in order to live.
I think they did handle the situaton correctly. The animals should have been killed for the safety of the people because its better to have more living people than living animals. If I lived in Ohio I would have wanted them to kill the animals, yet I would feel sad because so many animals dided.
I do not agree with you Kadej'a,I mean we eat animals so....
Mrs.Alexander it is ok either way you go(to me)but if we kill to many of these animals that might end up getting loose we wont have enough food to produce for us to eat and some people may not want to eat veggies some people make the choice to eat meat and fats and thats there choice and we cant judge that,
Personly I think that the animals were a danger to the society but! They shouldn't have killed them...but a simple tranquilizer couldn't harm anyone, and to answer mrs.alexanders question. Its the other way around, we kill animals for safety but we rarely kill them as in eating them. Pigs,chickens,cows and etc. We might kill to eat but not lions,tigers,bears,and cheetahs. We have them in the wild or zoo's

I think the police did such a horriable thing to Capture or kill those animals.
This may sound cruel but chickens are more of a necessity than cheeta. Cheetas are mainly for show. You never see a chicken in a zoo unless its on a snack plate. Cheetas may be rare and exotic but when it comes down to survival, nearly everyone will pick a chicken
